Nambour Heights Butchery

Nambour Heights Butchery, as the name suggests, is a retail butcher shop. We pride ourselves on good-quality meat at an affordable price, supplying both over the counter and wholesale customers. This butchery supplies customers from Caloundra through to the Hinterlands. Over the years it has even been known to supply customers as far away as Brisbane. We currently supply Foodworks in Nambour, Nambour Heights IGA and Mapleton IGA with our meat. The current owners have been with the business for almost 10 years, firstly as managers, and now, owners of the business for five years.

One of the most attractive attributes of the business is the old-style butchering techniques mixed with new value-added lines. All red meat sold through Nambour Heights Butchery is grass-fed. Our chicken and chicken products are all 100 percent free-range Lilydale chicken. Our pork and hams are all Australian pork. We have convenient parking at the front of our shop and we will even carry your purchases to your car for you.

Winning the award is a huge reward for us as we work long hours and try our best to give our customers the best quality products at reasonable prices, with the friendly service we have prided our business on. We spend hours brainstorming new ideas and working on our business planning, forecasts and market segmentations. We budget three years ahead and have a fantastic relationship with our accountants and our business mentor. Nambour Heights Butchery is about teamwork and having strong foundations in place.

Business is changing all the time, whether it be seasonal changes or demographical changes, etc. We are closely monitoring these changes on a regular basis, riding the highs and lows. Our advice to other businesses would be to have a five-year plan and write down all the steps needed to reach that goal. Put down your expected timeframes and strive to meet these dates. Stay focused on the end result and reevaluate your plan monthly, ticking off your completed tasks. And mostly, stay positive – don’t get caught up in everybody else’s doom and gloom.

In April 2011 we started a smallgoods business called Nambour Smallgoods. We are only small at this stage, selling bacon, hams, cheese and continental lines. We work the two businesses separately but now can offer our wholesale customers more lines and deliver their items together. The two businesses complement each other and have broadened our possibilities.

Between Nambour Heights Butchery and Nambour Smallgoods we plan to continue our growth in 2012 by offering our customers continued personal service and delivering quality products time after time. We are currently reviewing our objective for 2012 but there are plans in place for us to stock a new Foodworks store in Brisbane later in the year.
