Clever climate controllers come to the coast

Sales and marketing director Mike Rodgers said the company brought energy-saving technologies to Australia from Europe nine years ago, and found that Australian buildings on average leaked from 50 to 300% more energy than UK benchmarks, costing money and the environment.
Since then, the company has conducted countless retrofits of office space, shopping centres and private homes, and has worked on new builds with architects, builders and developers, from planning to testing, commissioning and contracting work to ensure ideal air filtration and energy usage.
Mike says ABT consistently finds that companies and builders could save money upfront by involving them at the outset, rather than retrofitting, which has, in some cases, cost up to 10 times more. ABT recently visited a building that was rated 6-stars for energy efficiency, yet had obvious design flaws that required extremely high air-conditioning costs.
Some of the major projects ahead for 2012 include testing relocatable homes in the Pilbara for mining companies, which need to run air-conditioning 24/7 to combat heat and mould as well as ensuring indoor air quality and ideal power usage for art galleries and libraries, to protect their collections.
