TAFE programs to help improve business skills

Sunshine Coast small businesses should consider sharpening their range of business skills, especially marketing, to ensure they remain competitive, Lifeline general manager Chris Lancaster says.

Mr Lancaster is running six marketing workshops for Sunshine Coast TAFE to assist small business operators get on the front foot and improve their businesses’ performance.

“Every business needs a carefully orchestrated marketing plan in order to have successful outcomes. Contrary to what some people believe, there is a lot more to marketing than advertising and promotions.”

Chris says the workshops would focus on target markets, marketing plans for business, analysing business customers, sales, identifying new markets, advertising, marketing mix, trends and online marketing just to name a few.
Mr Lancaster, who is the guest lecturer, has extensive practical experience in marketing, having been the general manager at Lifeline for the past 11 years and prior to that, station manager at Channel Ten on the Sunshine Coast.
He said the workshops covered two units of competency that would contribute credits towards a Diploma in Management.

The course starts on October 25 and includes six workshops over six weeks at Sunshine Coast TAFE’s Mooloolaba campus.

Sunshine Coast TAFE is also running a suite of other short course opportunities for businesses including HR Skill Set, Bookkeeping, Online Business Building, Quickbooks, Ready Set Go – Start Your Own Business and MYOB for Small Business Operators.

Places are limited for these exciting programs, so to ensure you don’t miss out, contact Sunshine Coast TAFE’s customer contact centre on 5459 3000 or visit www.sunshinecoast.tafe.gov.au.
